Hi.

I have problem seting up Exchange 5.5 on WinNT SBS 4.5 to listen on port 993
(to serve IMAP-ssl connections).

I checked the Exchange configuration with 'Microsoft Exchange Administrator'
various times, however I didn't found an option to enable IMAP-ssl protocol.
There is some reference to SSL in:
SERVER -> Servers -> SERVER -> Protocols -> IMAP4
under 'Authentication' - I checked there:
- Basic (Clear Text)
- Basic (Clear Text) using SSL
- Windows NT Chalange/Response
- Windows NT Chalange/Response using SSL

however I guess that those settings doesn't provide the IMAP-SSL
functionality. Please give me a hint how to setup IMAP-SSL.

Regards,
Dezo

You do need to make sure you have a certificate on the server.
Check out http://support.microsoft.com/?id=251097 and the link
contained theirin to set up SSL on Exchange.
Just setting the tickboxes for SSL in Exchange isn't enough and you
haven't actually said you've done the other bits.
Any problems, come right back.

Hi.

You do need to make sure you have a certificate on the server.
Check out http://support.microsoft.com/?id=251097 and the link
contained theirin to set up SSL on Exchange.
Background:
I'm using WinNT SBS 4.5 with Exchange 5.5.

After reading the instructions, I created a new key request (I clicked on
'Local Computer->IMAP4' and from Key I selected 'Create New Key'). After the
key was created I signed it with CA I created for my VPN gateway running on
Linux (openssl). Then I imported the signed key back into Windows ('Install
key certificate...').

Than I restarted windows and tried to connect to IMAP-ssl port (993) by
telneting to it. After the connection was estabilished, it was imidiatly
droped by Windows (even before it displayed any error in telnet window). So
I rechecked the 'Key Manager' tree and noticed that all fields in
'Distinguishing Information' were empty. I guess that I still have problems
with my SSL key certificate. Can someone please help me?

Regards,
Dezo

PS: All other tabs (LDAP, NNTP, POP3, SMTP, WWW) in Key Manager are empty.
