i guess you reffering to the winmail.dat attachment, that generates instead
of the messege. exchange produce this mail when he thinkning he's sending to
downlevel server that do not support RTF. to solve it, add a new entry in
the global settings -> internet messege format, with the problematic domain
name, and select never use exchange rich text format. this will cause
exchange to send the mails with a downlevel format that probably suits that
mail system.

hope this helps.

Hi,
I've 1 exchange 2000 sp3 sr1 US but i can't send mail some domain.
I suppose my exchange 2000 send bdat instead of data in protocol SMTP.
How to change this ?
Thanks

1. check name resolution to hotmail.com
2. enable logging on the server object and select msexchangetransport ->
catagorizer and set it to maximum. observe for logs in the exchange
application log.

bdat is a part of the CHUNKING service extension, and it is used instead of
the data command when sending messeges in chunks. Bdat-last means the end of
the bdat transmittion. looking at your trace, it dosent looks like an smtp
error. can you turn on diagnostics logging on the exchange server?
espacially on the msexchangerouting object..
